Animajors - Furries

Okay here's my animajor post for the week. It's a furry. Named Merv. This is my first attempt at lineless art so don't judge too harshly.

Life drawings

I figured that, since this is a sketch blog, and I'm doing life drawing sketches in Bua's (sorry, BUA's) class, I should upload a few. I'm really impressed with that class because I feel like I'm actually making progress, which is more than I can say for basically any other drawing class I've ever taken. Hopefully this post will show said progress. If it doesn't...crap. I'll start off with what I was doing a the beginning of the semester and move on up to now. I had a lot of drawings to choose from, and generally just chose the ones that didn't cause Bua to tell me I sucked and sit down with me. None of these are brilliant or, like, really good, but I kind of like them in their own way. If it's got shading, assume it was a longer pose (5-10 minutes), and if it doesn't, it was probably 1-3 minutes.

Sorry about the crappy quality. I had to take pictures because they're too big for my scanner, didn't use flash because it washed out my drawings, and had to up the contrast in Photoshop because the pictures were too dark. I suck at taking pictures.

I was really impressed that I did this one until I remembered that Bua shaded it.


This one was all me. Notice the crappier shading job.

A Prolific Day

Today was especially prolific for me in terms of drawing. So prolific, in fact, that I decided to update this ol' thing. The first drawings aren't from today though...they're from a while ago. Here they are:

Okay so the one you've seen before is my latest rendition of Valerie from my Carnies characters. I like this one the best, and I hope I stick with it. The woman on the left is from a David Sedaris book; specifically Naked. It's this woman who gets on the bus with him in "c.o.g." Here's the description:

"The seat was taken by a morose, chinless smokestack of a woman wearing an ash-colored sleeveless turtleneck sweater. She never engaged in formal conversation, rather she jabbed me periodically, pointing with her cigarette at whatever she imagined I might find meaningful. "Refrigerated truck," she would whisper. "Filling station all boarded up." She never visited the toilet or shifted her position, not even during one of her many naps. Sleep seemed to overcome her without warning. "South Dakota plates on that Duster," and I'd turn to find her gently snoring, the cigarette still smoldering between her fingers."

So that's what I got from that description.

These next drawings were done today, and they were inspired by this Flickr group. It's wonderful, isn't it?

Finally, here are two strippers from a screenplay I wrote. Derriere is the main stripper, and Verunique is her rival. It's a pretty sweet tale of triumph and happiness.
